After taking an introductory ballroom dance class at Brigham Young University, Brandon quickly grew to love ballroom dancing and joined the BYU Ballroom Dance Company, which he was part of for 4 years. He has competed in Standard, Latin, American Smooth, and American Rhythm, including competitions for the US Amateur Rhythm Championship title. He is currently a graduate student at the University of Alberta, where he studies paleontology (dinosaurs).
